What does intel manufacture graphics cards that don't work next to anything?

why would intel cause a graphics card that sucks and does not work with a activity that is 3 years elder than the computer. and why would gateway put it in the damn computer itself?

crap, when i get this i thought i could play games, because i have 256mb shared video push and 2gigs of system ram, next to a very swift cpu.

i cannot even play battlefield 1942 without it screw up, due to the graphics card.

could it be an compability issue with window vista?

Answer:

Vista is the problem...most of the game video drivers enjoy not been optimized for Vista...and any of the elder games (say about a years ago or so) you can probably forget have them ever work right with Vista.
Integrated graphics adapters ( those on the motherboard) are almost other substandard to a add-on graphics card.

Gateway does it because it's cheaper for them.

and it could fundamentally well be an issue beside Windows Vista also
To keep costs down, computer maker will put in undeveloped components, just angelic enough to run Windows. This route they can charge you more when you request custom parts (such as a video card).
