- Intel Core 2 Duo (Ghz really doesnt event, b/c I doubt you'll know the difference of 1.8 and 2.2 GHz)

- at least 2 GB RAM (especially if you plan to upgrade to Vista)

- at least possible 100 GB of Hard drive space (250 GB or more is better for music/movies).

If your planning on spectator sport playing go near XPS....just turn to the dell website, you will find everything you need here as to what will best suit you.
The dell xps will have a bottom with vastly high option. The dell inspiron has more option, but they will be the more budget friendly for your budget.
