I lately had my laptop repaired, because the OS did not boot properly. The repair center told me they replace the planar card. I don't know what the card does. Does it hold anything to do with loading OS?

You must own an IBM or Lenovo PC. IBM calls motherboards Planar Boards. Lenovo bought IBm's laptop division.
