If you are not playing any big window based games stir with LINUX.



My favorite is UBUNTU. It's free, reliable and up to date. Also, you return with all of the programs that you will ever entail free. There is also a very devout starter guide in WIKI and a forum to ask question.



If your computer has 256MB of RAM capture a full version. If smaller amount, get XUBUNTU.
Windows Vista, but that's lately my opinion.
